Our beginnings:

A meeting was held on February 20, 1979 at the Roger Oelke home to create a new congregation. On March 6, 1979 a meeting was held for further prayer and discussion. Another meeting was held March 20th at the home of Leona Weinman to pray and discuss a new church home.

The first Worship was held March 25th at the Central School - room #7. We didn't have hymnals the first Sunday we met, the Trimont Covenant brought in fifty older ones of theirs to use and later gave us fifty new hymnals. We didn't have collection plates so we used a hat. Oelkes had Aldor Rose make us two oak plates. We were in such a hurry to get them and use them that we didn't even get them stained or sealed!

There was a board meeting on Monday, April 16th to call a pastor and decide on salary. Pastor Marv Eppard was called as our first pastor. His first Sunday with us was on May 20th, 1979. July 1st was the first Sunday in the new rented building at 1254 Lake Ave. The ground breaking for our new church home on 901 Woodland Ave. was in March 28, 1982. The first worship service in our new church home was in December 5th 1982. Praise God for all He has done!
